Reuse and Open Source

What does that mean in practice?

Software developed for the public administration must be released under an open license and made available for reuse. The source code and documentation must be published on accessible public platforms so that they can be reused and adapted by other government agencies.

Article 69 of the CAD

When a government agency develops software designed to meet a specific need, it must:

  • make available the software code;

  • provide documentation that allows for its use and maintenance;

  • adopt a license that allows for reuse by other government agencies.

The goal is to promote the sharing of solutions, reduce development time and costs, and improve software quality over time.
